A Clear and Present Danger
Is it white out or wipe out?
There she stood. Precipitous. Throwing caution to the wind. It had always worked before. Which direction? Black run or stick with the easy runs she knew so well. The decision would follow her for eons. She stood on a precipice.
But let me start from the beginning.
Her ski instructor, Legs, didn’t think there was much promise. Beautiful, yes. Talented, yes. Risk-taker, yes. Athlete, not so much. She had the passion, but not the skill. She had the guts, but where’s the glory.
The first time she challenged that mountain, she wanted it to be black. A black run. Anyone could start from the beginning. That’s why you called them beginners. She wasn’t a sissy. She didn’t always work through things from A to Z. Why waste all that time?
Let’s start in the middle or closer to the end. She didn’t have a lot of time. She flew, first class of course, two days ago. She had everything she needed to spend a glorious three days. No stress. No worries. No work. And she loved a challenge.
